We started hosting a Safe Routes to School Meeting at the Iowa Bike Expo in 2014. The purpose of these meetings is to educate and collaborate with stakeholders across the state of Iowa. We can only make the Iowa Safe Routes to School Program as strong as its believers. It’s our duty to explore our mutual mission by expanding the importance of Safe Routes to School. We are providing a fantastic opportunity to network while we grow lasting partnerships as we change Iowa one safe route at a time.
In 2017 we will be hosting a Safe Routes to School conference in Des Moines. The conference is free of charge. The conference promises to be a fun and informative opportunity for anyone interested or involved in Safe Routes to School. We will start our day off with a keynote speaker, then roll into an exciting Pecha Kucha session in the morning. The afternoon session will provide insight on how to get your program funded by bringing together local, metro, regional, and state funding sources in a panel discussion. We’ll finish the day with an UN-conference, where participants will have the opportunity to vote on a topic of discussion for the remainder of the day. Register for the event at Iowa SRTS Conference.
If you have questions about our meetings, would like to become involved, or would like to have meetings more frequently please contact Troy Carter, Safe Routes to School Program Director.
