Walk to School Day is October 8

GOOD LUCK ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. GET THOSE CHILDREN WALKING AND BIKING!

The Saris cycling group so graciously donated one Hub System to the Iowa Safe Routes to School Program (Iowa Bicycle Coalition) and we want to make sure you’re the lucky winner who receives the system.

So, what’s the Hub?

The Hub is a hardware and software package that makes it simple, educational, and effective in implementing walking and biking incentive programs within schools.

There is truly no easier way to implement an incentive program than with the Hub ( http://thehub.saris.com/TheHub/)

As an international Walk to School giveaway we’re going to give away one Hub system. Do you qualify? Schools must enter to win by telling us why they qualify!

  • Do you have a good amount of year round walkers/ bikers?
  • Do you have a staff member to take on the responsibility of organizing/ setting up the Hub system?
  • Is your school dedicated to getting more children walking and biking to school?
  • How do you currently provide incentives to students walking and biking to school?
  • What changes will you make to get more children walking and biking to school?

In order to win the Hub system from the Iowa Safe Routes to School program, the applying school must host and register a Walk/ Bike to School Day on October 8, or anytime throughout the month of October. (http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/go/whos-walking/2014)
Additionally, the winning school must keep in contact with the Iowa Safe Routes to School program for updates on walking and biking initiatives and Hub system updates.

All essays must be postmarked or emailed by 5 pm on October 1.
