Workshops

Lack of physical activity is causing very serious health problems with our youth.  We’ve seen an increase of childhood obesity, diabetes, asthma, and fracture rates.  The problem is simple – not enough kids are getting physical activity like walking and bicycling.

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition’s Safe Routes To School program is working to change the inactivity crisis by helping communities organize their own Safe Routes to School Programs.  There are FREE workshops that help communities create a walking and bicycling action plans for school zones.

You can help by becoming a Safe Routes To School champion in your community.  Contact the Safe Routes To School Director (alana@iowabicyclecoalition.org)and help arrange a FREE Safe Routes to School workshop in your community.

Where it is safe, let’s get kids walking and bicycling.  Where it isn’t safe, let’s make it safe!
