If you were at the bike rodeo yesterday you would know that North Liberty is connected to what matters. It was an incredible event yesterday as families, biking enthusiasts, and community members gathered for a memorable Bike Rodeo. With the sun shining and spirits soaring, the air was filled with excitement and a shared passion for promoting bike safety and fostering a healthy lifestyle.

From the Sugar Bottom Bikes repair tent to the sno-cones to the engaging interactive stations, the Bike Rodeo provided an unforgettable experience for the 80 kids who eagerly participated and were rewarded with complimentary sno-cones. Behind the scenes, we owe a tremendous thank you to Kendra Schramm, the dedicated Bike Rodeo Coordinator, who tirelessly orchestrated the event’s success.

Using our bike rodeo toolkit, North Liberty was able to plan, host, and execute an exciting educational experience for young cyclists. The first stations involved getting bicycles checked and helmets fitted. Thank you to Sugar Bottom Bikes for their expertise in bicycle repair and generous donations of helmets and two demo bikes.

After bicycles and helmets were evaluated it was on to the course! Participants pedaled through three mock intersections learning about stop and yield signs, mastering the different hand signals, and how to look left-right-left before entering an intersection. The course wrapped up with a balance test having the youth snake between cones.
